According to a buddy who works for GW, they've found a resin formulation that can be used with the existing metal moulds pretty much indefinatly. So the resin costs perhaps 10% of the price of metals, there are no additional overheads for most models (new sculpts excepted), the level of detail is identical (ignore GW's claims, that;s just self-justification) and the new resins are much lighter and so vastly cheaper to distribute while GW pocket the (massive, in some cases) price raises. To make it even simpler: GW profiteering again and barely bothering to put up any pretence otherwise.

Forgot to say i used to believe as Andy did till one of my semi close friends who is a Forgeworld painter explained it to me. Also resin apparently can produce finer detail so i am looking forward to a second new Lich Priest as the first one is pretty good looking but i need one extra for my army and i prefer they look different.

@andy actually resin is more expensive because of the moulds. You see with metal moulds they can be reused 1000's of times, however resin moulds can only be used about 100 times before its chucked away. And they cant recycle the moulds material as its some form of silicon which cant be recycled.

So end result is the costs are higher because of the moulds.

I think its silly realy. the resin is cheaper to produce than metal yet still they put the prices up. the detail is barely noticeabland the models are weaker so we pay more money for less quality and then even more mkney repairing the defective new finecast models

GW prices were eye-watering a month ago, but now they're extortionate!

The battalions and boxed units seem to have gone up by the largest percentage too.

I remember when a Battle Force was ust $40. And A box of Space Marines was £12. I know a few kids of about 11-16 (the main catchment area for developing gamers) who have stopped simply because it has priced them out. I myself am not buying anymore for a long time. They are not only charging STUPID amounts, but they are now brining out less and less. GW is on a slippery slope...
